So we decided to start an aggressive book reading club in our department. Aggressive in the sense that we try and read a book every fortnight! And why not start with the classics, some to be reread and most to be discovered for the first time.
To Kill a Mockingbird was a great first book for the club - Go Set A Watchman has just been released and it was a perfect time to explore the shockingly racist world of Alabama seen through the eyes of Scout Finch. Refreshing to read Atticus as first realised by Lee as opposed to what the sequel exposed him to be. Wonderful tension in the novel and a great start to the aggressive reading year!
